Lead Project Manager - Fletcher, NC



ABOUT NEXUS

The Nexus team is seeking a highly organized, results-driven Project Manager to help drive the deliverables of our projects. As a Project Manager within our organization, you will be responsible for creating and managing project schedules, budgets, and scope. We are a group of self-starters, capable of providing on-site leadership with an eye for detail. We have a solid track record of delivering projects on time and within budget while exemplifying the utmost attention to quality. Our new team member will work in close collaboration with engineering teams, design teams, vendors and contractors.

DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will need strong problem solving fundamentals and excellent communication skills. The candidate we seek will lead development of project scope of work, budget, deliverables, prepare presentations, illustrating project goal and intentions. They will also be responsible for preparing presentations to promulgate status of budget and time line, lead design reviews, coordinates design process to ensure design meets intended project goals and coordinate material selection and engineering equipment requirements. The ideal candidate will be a partner with engineering, manufacturing, and key stakeholders to act in the best interest of the projects under their care, and always keep in mind what is best for the group, the organization and the company.  

This addition will provide oversight for execution of assigned projects and participate in the value engineering process. They will also exhibit outstanding abilities and efficiently schedule meetings in order to review project status, review and approve design milestones and criteria. This team member has to be a “go-getter” and must take initiative to understanding new technology as well as how this new technology comes together and the ability to track and facilitate cross-functional tasks and dependencies are essential. Our new team member must be able to clearly communicate requirements and status at both the engineering and executive level as well as enjoy challenging and innovative projects that thrive in a fast-paced environment where accountability is paramount. KEY REQUIREMENTS

5 + combined experience in project management and hands on hardware / software engineering.
Prior experience and proven track record managing projects in an agile environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong project management skills
Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills
Self-motivated and pro-active with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
Interested in the final product
Experience in all aspects of the hardware and software development process
Wants to be part of the product definition

Team oriented with emphasis on group collaboration
Proven track record of conflict resolution and balancing needs of stakeholders
Ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience
Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles; remains flexible and calm in the face of ambiguity
Detailed knowledge and understanding of product development processes
Detailed project tracking and track record of meeting deliverables
Experience interfacing with Operations, Vendors and Contractors
Experience working in corporate laboratory environment managing capital equipment design and installation projects.
Experience in change management as it relates to fast track projects.

KEY CONTRIBUTION

Defining project schedules and driving to execution.
Presenting status updates objectively.
Lead and motivate engineering teams in definition, build and validation activities.
Help define architecture where necessary.
Understand and communicate complex technical and business issues in a timely, concise and objective manner.
Identify and resolve personnel and project conflicts and inter-dependencies quickly.
Communicate issues proactively

EDUCATION

BS Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction Management degree or equivalent required. Additionally, MBA and/or PMP certification preferred.
